As mandated by the College of Pharmacists of Manitoba (CPhM), we adhere to the NAPRA standards, which helps protect patients and health professionals.
We use only certified, high-quality ingredients. All raw material pharmaceutical ingredients are Health Canada approved, have drug identification numbers (DINs) or certificate of analysis (CoA) in accordance with all regulations and standards.
The Compounding Pharmacy of Manitoba can provide the finished prescription compound directly to your pharmacy of choice.
Turnaround for most services provided is SAME DAY or NEXT DAY.
CPM - The Compounding Pharmacy of Manitoba (CPM) was founded in 2010 by pharmacists with extensive knowledge and experience in the pharmaceutical industry. CPM was specially designed for the delivery of medicinal compounds to patients, pharmacies, hospitals, clinics and institutions.
Our 25,000 square foot facility in Oakbank, Manitoba is the largest compounding facility in Canada. It is equipped with the latest technology in the pharmaceutical compounding industry, which is highlighted by a NAPRA compliant sterile compounding cleanroom suite.
CPM follows a comprehensive set of standard operating procedures (SOPs) designed to provide enhanced product delivery and promote safety. Every compound is prepared in accordance with a detailed master formulation record (MFR) in accordance with regulatory standards
Some children have trouble swallowing a tablet or capsule. We can often prepare other options such as oral liquid suspensions. Don’t like the taste… Flavouring options are available.
For patients that require sterile injectable products, the Compounding Pharmacy of Manitoba can prepare pre-filled syringes with the longest beyond use dating prescribed by the regulations. No exemptions required as our cleanroom facility is compliant with the standards.
Topical, oral and injectable dosage forms can be prescribed. We are able to prepare a variety of pain medications in various forms that can be tailored to the individual’s specific needs.
These can vary from oral and topicals to injectables as prescribed by the primary care provider.
Small animal vs Large animal. Domestic vs Exotic. We have many raw materials available and are able to prepare a variety of veterinary preparations as requested.
Some products are intended for inhalation and must be prepared in a sterile environment which we have.
We can prepare products for patients that require additional assistance with administering doses, such as pre-filled insulin syringes. NAPRA standards require these injections to be prepared in a compliant cleanroom.
There are times when commercial products are not available, which may also affect dental clinics. We are here to help in these cases.
For patients who elect to visit naturopathic doctors, we can provide sterile and non-sterile preparations that may be prescribed by their physician.
A compounding pharmacy can create custom medication that is not commercially available but is needed for certain health concerns. For example, a patient is allergic to one of the non-medical ingredients of a certain medication or the patient needs a liquid medication that is only available in a solid dosage form (e.g. tablet or capsule).
In Manitoba, all pharmacies must comply with the NAPRA standards for any compounding services they choose to provide.

NAPRA stands for National Association of Pharmacy Regulatory Authorities.
NAPRA takes a national approach to addressing common issues facing the practice of pharmacy in Canada.
One of the areas they focus on is the act of compounding. NAPRA has set the standards for how pharmacies should be preparing products for pharmaceutical use. Provincially, the College of Pharmacists of Manitoba (CPhM) has adopted these standards, which must be adhered to by Manitoba Pharmacies engaged in pharmaceutical compounding.

It means you have a choice!
If your regular pharmacy is unable to prepare a particular type of compounded product for you, you have a choice on how you would prefer to have this handled for your care. We offer an easy solution while your regular pharmacy is part of the process!
Once signed up with us, your pharmacy can order the product and have it delivered to their site for your convenience.
After we prepare the prescription in our facility, we send the product directly to your requested pharmacy, often with same day to next day service. This allows you to stay with the pharmacy of your choice. This can enhance the care you receive overall by allowing one pharmacy team to manage your prescriptions safely.
If none of the above is an option for you, we can fill the prescription directly for you.
Patient safety should always come first! Sticking with one home pharmacy allows your pharmacist to get to know you the best they can, to help you achieve your healthcare goals and needs.
Your primary care provider can also send the compounded prescription order directly to your home pharmacy.
The choice is yours!
You can certainly choose to come directly to us.
We would be happy to fill your compounded prescription for you at any time. That said, we do have the ability to work directly with your pharmacy! This may be a faster and more efficient option for you. Most patients prefer to work through their own home pharmacy so that they can maintain their care at one home base.
Please ask your pharmacy if they are currently signed up to order from us for your convenience and best care.
We would be happy to help them support you!
At times, certain medications are not available due to a manufacturer shortage or they may have been discontinued.
We can often formulate that medication in our compounding pharmacy with a prescription from your primary care provider, which can be sent to your regular pharmacy.
Please have your pharmacy contact us with a price quote to request the necessary information on availability and other details. More information on how to do this is available under the pharmacists menu.
